I had my car towed to Jim’s Towing & Automotive in Elgin after a transmission issue. I was told I needed a $5,000 transmission rebuild, but after getting a second opinion, I found out the problem was the clutch actuator motor, which was a much less expensive repair. When I declined the $5,000 repair, they offered to buy my car for $300 as a junk, I declined that as well and ultimately traded the car to an online car seller for $1,900. I was also charged a $150 inspection fee, but they failed to provide the OBD2 codes or diagnostic information supporting their recommendation. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before approving a major repair here. yes, nobody works for free. $5000 for a transmission rebuild instead of actuator motor which is much cheaper? shows how honest you are.🤦

My coworker had work done, she was charged 150 for 2 miles which is ridiculous. Her belt came off, they replaced the belt and that's it, the tensioner was bad. They didn't even check it out. They topped off fluids without asking and she was forced to pay. All Jim's said was we could have charged you more. Garbage

I’ve taken all my vehicles here for years since moving to the suburbs. I would never trust any other shop in the area to maintain or tow my vehicles. From oil changes to electrical diagnostics Daniel and crew get it done! Katie and Ronnie in the office are the sweetest! The whole team is trustworthy and hardworking.
